Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Eric Lindros Trade
Today is the 30th anniversary of “The Trade.” The Flyers traded Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchesne, the rights to Peter Forsberg, two 1st round draft picks and $15 million cash to the Quebec Nordiques in exchange for the rights to Eric Lindros. There was so much action, Quebec traded Lindros twice; once to the New York Rangers and once to the Philadelphia Flyers. The trade essentially created a core to go around Joe Sakic, which would eventually lead to a Stanley Cup win in 1996. The Lindros trade wasn’t only directly responsible for the 1996 Cup, you can give it credit for the 2001 champions as well....
