Stars Place Veteran Defenseman On Waivers
The Dallas Stars have placed Andrej Sekera on waivers. Sekera has not been in Dallas' lineup since January 28th's contest against the Washington Capitals. In 24 games on the season, the 35-year-old defenseman has three assists and a minus-2 rating. Interestingly, Stars head coach Rick Bowness just stated to reporters that he planned to put the veteran d-man back in the lineup shortly. However, that now will not be occurring.Sekera is in the final year of his contract and carries a $1.5 million contract. When looking at his vast experience, a team could consider claiming him if they need some depth on their blueline. Although he doesn't produce much offensively at this juncture of his career, he still works well because of his reliable defensive play. In 834 career games between the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Stars, Sekera has 50 goals, 202 assists, and 252 points.
