The Stars and Avalanche in their first two road games could be dangerous. The New York Islanders’ first road trip of the season won’t be easy. It’s not often that the Islanders have a Western Conference trip this early, and the teams they face will be challenging to beat.
First up is the Dallas Stars, who host the Islanders in their home opener tonight at 8:00 p.m. The Stars won their first game against the Nashville Predators on Thursday night and are coming off a second straight Western Conference Final loss.

Raphael Lavoie has flown between Edmonton and Las Vegas as though they were playing in a playoff series but it’s because they keep claiming him off waivers when the other one waives him. It appears this was the last one for a little while, though, because Vegas can actually send him to the minors this time. [Sportsnet]
