Anaheim Ducks' 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24

Typically I'd like to stay away from players on entry-level deals because they can't be over a certain cap hit, but the Anaheim Ducks are filled with young players on their first deals and some of those players are performing well. Let's take a look at the three best contracts this season on the Ducks.Frank VatranoFrank Vatrano is the best contract the Ducks have this season, and even though the team likely isn't going to be making the playoffs next season either, they made the choice to hold onto him with one year left on his deal and get good value for him at the 2025 trade deadline. Vatrano has been firing on all cylinders this season and really broke out offensively, scoring 30 goals and recording 52 points in 74 games. His sniping ability has really come through for the Ducks in a larger role and he has earned it. As the leader in goals and points on the team this season, he has a cap hit of just $3.65 million AAV through next season.Pavel Mintyukov20-year-old Pavel Mintyukov is just a rookie this season, but has played a significant role for the Ducks this season. He has stepped up offensively, which is an area where the team has struggled. He has scored four goals and 28 points in 63 games, and although he won't get voted to win the Calder trophy, the Ducks have a good one on their hands. He is only on the first year of his deal after the entry-level slide last season, so there's still two more years until Anaheim needs to get a deal done.Mason McTavishMason McTavish had a solid rookie season in 2022-23, but has noticeably taken a step forward this season despite only playing 16:24 per game. He has matched his goal total from last season in 18 fewer games and is three points back of his career high. He should be a top-six player with what he has done this season, especially early on in the season. The 21-year-old isn't even earning the maximum value on his rookie deal and will only get better. His contract runs through next season.Photo credit: © Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports...
