Islanders Anxiety - Episode 296 - Indescribable Relief
From the producers of “Master Leaf Theatre” and “Master Pens Theater” comes, “Ranger Piece Theater.” Mike and Dan take a deep breath as the Rangers get eliminated from the playoffs, opening the door for the first ever edition of “Ranger Piece Theater.”
We do some dramatic readings of Blueshirts postmortems and examine how a fanbase that is catered to almost exclusively by the NHL’s biggest broadcast partners somehow still seems to feel they are being targeted unfairly (maybe they’ll make a documentary about that, too).
We also throw in one Panthers-focused work that is somehow a referendum on the Maple Leafs continued struggles.
But because we’re not just here to hate, we start by discussing the recent changes at the top of the Islanders goaltending department, with new voices coming in and exiting, and congratulate captain Anders Lee on a much deserved King Clancy Trophy.

Whoooo boy. So many works to choose from. Here’s our first ever “Ranger Piece Theater” piece, by poet Dan Rosen of NHL.com.
The New York Post provided two articles we couldn’t get to, one about how the Rangers best player deserved one more home game (where he had lost twice already in the series) and ol’ Brooksie frets about the aging core (who isn’t going anywhere)
The Athletic laments a loss of “magic” (aka “not playing the Caps or Canes”).
And the tweets. Even smart, down-to-earth fans can have their moments when their team makes a long run. No shame in that.
This, however, is something completely different:
Okay, I figured out why the ESPN announcing has been driving me so insane after being able to sync up sam rosen’s radio cast with the game last night. Buckle up this is a long one:MSG (and I’d say most other regular season team and regional) announcing is an actual play by…— big NYR energy. (@blueshirtbl0nde) May 31, 2024
