One game at a time, and no sweeps. Welp, let’s just take it one game at a time. Today, we hope the New York Islanders do not get swept this afternoon by the Carolina Hurricanes.
It would be the second time the Isles have been swept by Carolina in three tries. That’s embarrassing. Don’t do that.

Going with Ilya Sorokin on Thursday turned out to be the wrong move, but it’s one many would have made, myself included. Patrick Roy is not to blame, although he can handle the spotlight. [Newsday]

Assuming the Islanders do get ousted here, it’s time to re-tool. This group hasn’t gotten out of the first round in the last three years—uncharitably, they haven’t gotten past the first round in a full season since 2018-19. It’s not working. [NY Post]

This (Yester)Day in Isles History: The Islanders beat the Penguins 1-0 in a Game 7 where they are badly outshot to complete the 0-3 comeback, nearly doing it again in the next round before losing Game 7 to the Flyers (1975).

Elsewhere
Only other game on Thursday was Florida putting Tampa on the verge of being swept. Last night, the Rangers pushed the Capitals to 3-0—that's three out of four East series at 3-0—and the Canucks, Avalanche, and Oilers took 2-1 series leads.

William Nylander practiced fully yesterday but is still questionable for Game 4 tonight. [NHL]
