The Los Angeles Kings took care of a nice piece of business on Thursday, getting their second-round pick from last month's draft to put pen to paper, as they've signed goaltender Carter George to a three-year entry-level contract.King Carter! 👑We've signed 2024 second-round-pick Carter George to an entry-level contract! Full release 📲📰 https://t.co/kfdltbLsfq pic.twitter.com/41Dl6CuniO— LA Kings (@LAKings) July 25, 2024The deal carries an average annual value of $875,000. The 18-year-old was drafted with the 57th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, and he will undoubtedly continue his development in junior hockey next season.George is a 6'1" technically sound netminder who's honed his style with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. He recorded a league-best four shutouts this past season while registering a .907 save percentage (3rd best in the league) and a 3.30 goals-against-average. He made the All-Rookie First Team, as well as the OHL Third All-Star team. Kings PR has also let us in on a fascinating fact about George, noting that he stopped more total shots than any netminder in all four major junior leagues in North America this season, turning aside 1,744 of 1,923 shot attempts that came his way. And while George is likely the future between the pipes in L.A., the Kings also made a change this summer on the goaltending front for the coming season by re-acquiring Darcy Kuemper in the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade.
