NHL Rumors: Blackhawks & Stars Becoming Potential Trade Partners
The Chicago Blackhawks currently have the second-fewest points in the NHL, so they are certainly going to be sellers at the trade deadline. Connor Murphy is one player who has created a ton of chatter in the rumor mill, and it makes sense when noting that he is a veteran on a rebuilding Blackhawks club. The Dallas Stars are standing out as a club to watch when it comes to Murphy, as it is no secret that they are still looking to improve the right side of their defense after adding Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks. If the Stars acquired Murphy, he would be a clear fit on their second pairing. In addition, due to his strong defensive play, he would give them another option to consider for their penalty kill. Murphy would also offer the Stars more stability on the blueline beyond this season if acquired. This is because the right-shot blueliner is signed until the end of next season, where he has a reasonable $4.4 million cap hit. Murphy has appeared in 42 games this season with the Blackhawks, where he has one goal, 12 assists, 13 points, 72 hits, and 100 blocks. Overall, he is more of a defensive defenseman, but the Stars could undoubtedly use one in their top four right now. Let's see if they end up being the team that acquires him from here.photo credit: © John E. Sokolowski-Imagn Images...
