* The NHL-goal scoring leader Auston Matthews became the third active player to record at least four 40-goal seasons, while the League-leading blueliner Cale Makar added his name to a short list of defensemen over the past three decades to reach the 20-goal mark in 53 or fewer contests.

* The Panthers (38-13-5, 81 points) added to their NHL-leading goal total with another six-goal outing and moved back into the top spot in the Atlantic Division, while the Pacific Division-leading Flames (34-14-7, 75 points) extended the League’s longest active home point streak to 13 games (12-0-1).
