NHL Rumors: Wild Interested In Senators Forward
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Ottawa Senators forward Chris Tierney could be a trade target for the Minnesota Wild.In his piece, he noted that both Pierre Dorion and Pierre McGuire attended the Wild's last contest against the Montreal Canadiens. As a result of this, it seems very possible that the two teams are in the middle of discussing a potential deal. With the Senators sporting a 12-20-3 record at this juncture of the season, it's clear that they are destined to be sellers yet again. Tierney only has one year left on his contract, so he is viewed as one of the biggest rental candidates. Tierney is having a very down year, however. In 35 games, he has just five goals and four assists. This kind of production is quite low for his standards, as he just had a 37-point campaign in 71 games only two seasons ago. During the two years before that, he also recorded at least 40 points in each of them. Thus, one has to wonder if he could bounce back a bit. Maybe a move to Minnesota could spark just that. If the Wild were to acquire him, he'd fit in their bottom six. Ultimately, it's never a bad thing to add depth before the playoffs, but Tierney shouldn't be their only addition. If they want to go on that long Stanley Cup run, it would be wise for them to get at least a top-six forward, too.Alas, we will have to wait and see if the Wild and Senators spark a deal shortly.
