But WHERE IS THE DOOR? | Photo by Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images

We all have our door to bear. For those of you who still fear that one or both of Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin will return to significant roles for the Islanders in 2024-25, Lou Lamoriello’s interview with Arthur Staple and his “the door never closes on any player [that’s been here that long]” quote was likely a confirmation of your worst fears.
But truth be told, those two are probably in a status similar to Zach Parise last year, except that status is inverted as a team decision rather than the player decision: if we need you later on and you’re not seeing anyone else, maybe we make a deal.
Ultimately, the current roster is probably the opening night roster, and those guys will end up on PTOs or something elsewhere. Figure the odds are less 50:50 that either returns to the Island at some point {cue: training camp injury to Maxim Tsyplakov}, if injuries and conditions or something like that arise.

The case for Ruslan Iskhakov going back to Russia for a couple years being a good thing (as long as he doesn’t become cannon fodder in the invasion of a neighbor, of course!). [THN]

I am predisposed to hate the Joseph brothers for some (I believe) dirty hits on Islanders that I no longer quite recall, but this is a cool Q&A with them as they join the same team. [Athletic]
The Oilers and Leon Draisaitl have had “good talks” on a new contract, so that’s swell. [NHL]
