Colorado Eagles three stars of December

Will we see any of these three in the NHL again? As the AHL season marches on, the Colorado Eagles are firmly in the mix in the Pacific Division after a 5-3-1 month of December. With an overall record of 16-9-3 and 35 points the Eagles are currently in fourth place but four points separate the second and sixth ranked teams. With seven of the team teams making the playoff “play-in”, making the cut isn’t a concern but the top four teams are guaranteed a game at home so that is the important mark in the standings.
First Star - C Nikita Prishchepov - 19 GP: 5G, 6A, 11P
If you score the team’s only hat trick in the season, you are going to be a star of the month. Nikita Prishchepov has turned a second successful Avalanche recall into momentum in the AHL. The three goals plus two assists in seven games since that last return from the NHL will hopefully give Prishchepov momentum towards another look at the highest level.

Second Star - LW Tye Felhaber - 28 GP: 10G, 8A, 18P
If you sign a NHL contract and play in The Show within a month, that earns you a star, too. The Felhaber had a whirlwind month of December culminating in a NHL debut in Vancouver on December 16th. He also scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal for the Eagles prior to that contract offer. Overall he scored four goals and three assists in nine games this month.
Third Star - RW Jean-Luc Foudy - 12 GP: 2G, 5A, 7P
If you return from injury and begin a four-game point streak, you’ll get this month’s third star. Jean-Luc Foudy missed nearly a month with a lower body injury but didn’t pick up any rust and he was flying out of the gate. Foudy crafted a four-game point streak in his return, too. This beauty on the power play was Foudy’s second goal of the season to go along with five assists in seven games since his return.

Honorable Mention:
Shoutout to defenseman Wyatt Aamodt for leading the AHL in plus/minus with a +22. With only six points scored this season and the next closest teammate at +12 this is certainly a noteworthy feat and might buy him a recall to the Avalanche at some point.
