Intriguing Move for Pending RFA & Trade Candidate Noah Dobson
NY Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson is a pending restricted free agent. We've heard word recently that they have shopped the 25-year-old to a few teams. Now comes an interesting development in that the Isles' rearguard has changed agents.Per industry sources, #Isles Noah Dobson has changed agents from Andrew Maloney to Judd Moldaver and Olivier Fortier of Wasserman.— Stefen Rosner (@stefen_rosner) February 12, 2025As noted by insider Jeff Marek of Daily Faceoff, when a player changes agents, something must be up. Good scoop by Stefen here. Usually when you switch agents it indicates you want something to happen. We'll see where this goes. https://t.co/Mwpj1kjfsc— Jeff Marek (@JeffMarek) February 12, 2025While the Wasserman agency (and Moldaver in particular) boast superstar clients like Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews, the latest word is that Fortier will take the lead on Dobson. The surprising news leaked over the past week that the Islanders were willing to trade their Top-10 Norris Trophy candidate from last season, "for the right price." Dobson, who finished 8th in the balloting for top defenseman last year after Breaking out with a career-high 70 points on 60 assists and 10 goals, is following that up with a down season with just 18 assists and 24 points through 46 games this year. He is currently on LTIR with an injury, and is expected back perhaps by the end of the month. That would be in time for the March 7th trade deadline. But the Isles would be committing the crime of selling low on the promising blueliner, the former 12th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. On the other hand, if they choose to re-sign the RFA, they could expect to get a reduced price, due to his poor season. But that, of course, is where the new agency comes in. An intriguing situation to watch as we approach the trade deadline. Photo: © Wendell Cruz-Imagn Images ...
