Bruins' Brad Marchand Suspended 6 Games
Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended six games for roughing and high sticking on Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry.Boston’s Brad Marchand has been suspended for six games for Roughing/High-sticking Pittsburgh’s Tristan Jarry. https://t.co/riNM5EFbz0— NHL Player Safety (@NHLPlayerSafety) February 10, 2022 When it was announced that Marchand was set to have an in-person hearing, the possibility of him receiving more than a five-game suspension became possible. Now, NHL Player Safety has decided to enforce just that. This is Marchand's second suspension of the season. Earlier this campaign, he was handed a three-game suspension for his slew foot on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. With this, he now has eight career NHL suspensions, and his long history certainly played a role in this current one being a lengthy one. This was an entirely unnecessary play by Marchand, but especially on a goaltender. Thus, NHL Player Safety's decision isn't surprising. This is horrible timing for his suspension, as Patrice Bergeron is currently sidelined with an injury, too. If the Bruins captain has to miss some time as well, the Bruins could be in for a rough handful of games. This isn't ideal, but especially when remembering that the Bruins hold the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Alas, we will have to see how the Bruins perform without Marchand in the lineup these next six games. Photo Credit: © Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports...
