Canada's Poulin, Fillier headline nominees for IIHF Female Player of the Year Award
The IIHF announced its seven nominees for the inaugural Female Player of the Year Award Monday, with Canada’s Sara Fillier and Marie-Philip Poulin both on the list. Media and invited members of the IIHF Family will vote on the award with the winner being announced on June 1. To be eligible to win, each player must have competed in at least one IIHF tournament (Olympics, Women’s World Championship, Women’s U18 World Championship) while also playing in a domestic league. Fillier, just 22, was named MVP of the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship after finishing the tournament with seven goals and 11 points. One of Canada’s most decorated hockey players of all time, Poulin helped Canada to a silver medal at the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship with eight total points....
