At least 50 regular-season games will be nationally televised on TNT this season, the majority of those being Wednesday evenings with some Saturday and Sunday showings as well.

Each of those games will also be available to stream on the WatchTNT application, for users that authenticate and login with the username and password for their pay TV service provider.

As part of the deal, Turner Sports was also able to secure streaming rights for HBO Max, but that’s a long-term project and something that will likely develop more in 2022. Jeff Zucker, chairman of WarnerMedia News & Sports, said in a conference call in April that HBO Max’s usage as an NHL platform “it’s not imminent and it’s not going to happen this year, in this calendar year. Our emphasis in the year ahead will certainly be on TNT and TBS. In the years to come, I think you’ll see HBO Max and those digital platforms be a different part.”

According to those familiar with the situation at Turner, this continues to be the case, as the network is putting more of an emphasis right now on launching the television-based product before focussing on the best way to utilize HBO Max.
