 According to college hockey reporter Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald, the Boston Bruins are close to signing Western Michigan Broncos goaltender Brandon Bussi. Bussi recently helped the Broncos capture their first ever NCAA tournament victory.The Boston Bruins are close to signing 6-foot-5 Western Michigan goalie Brandon Bussi, who backstopped the Broncos to their first NCAA tournament victory this season.— Brad Elliott Schlossman (@SchlossmanGF) March 30, 2022 Bussi is a 23-year old undrafted goaltender who played three years for Western Michigan. His deal is expected to be a one-year entry-level contract with the Bruins. The deal is also only expected to start at the beginning of the 2022-23 hockey season. There is also the possibility that he will be joining the Providence Bruins of the AHL on a professional tryout the rest of the way according to reports. In 39 games this past season, the 23-year old netminder had a 2.55 GAA and .912 save percentage along with 26 wins. His Western Michigan career ends, following a 3-0 loss against Minnesota on Sunday. Despite the loss, the fact that Bussi led the Broncos to beat the Northeastern Huskies in a 2-1 victory in overtime on Friday allowed him to cement his name in Western Michigan sports history. That win was the first victory the Western Michigan men's hockey team have ever had at an NCAA tournament. In that win, Bussi made 30 saves to help his team to victory.
