NHL Rumors: Boston Bruins Trying to Trade Forward
The Boston Bruins have some work to do before next season. Management has not yet come to terms with free agent Patrice Bergeron and there's been rumblings of a potential David Krejci reunion. Throw in restricted free agent Pavel Zacha sitting without a contract as general manager Don Sweeney will try and get some work complete over the month of August. This could also mean we see a trade out of Boston.According to Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe, Craig Smith could be on the move as the Bruins look for more salary cap flexibility:If Sweeney is forced into a Bjorkstrand-like gift situation, the likeliest to go could be winger Craig Smith ($3.1M/one year), whose production was spotty and frustrating last season. Perhaps a new coach will wring more out of him, if he doesn’t end up the collateral damage for the younger, bigger, and perhaps more versatile Zacha.Smith appeared in 74 games last season, registering 36 points. It was his best season since the 2018-19 season as a member of the Nashville Predators. Smith is a pending unrestricted free agent who is signed for $3 million next season.Photo credit: © Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports...
