3 Edmonton Oilers Prospects Expected To Get NHL Playing Time In 2024-25

The Edmonton Oilers don't have an incredible prospect pool, but it is respectable with some talented players pushing to break into the NHL sooner than later. With a mixed bag of depth, we should see some different looks and some young players get opportunities. Here are three prospects expected to get some playing time with the Oilers this season.Matthew SavoieThere is a very real chance Matthew Savoie makes the Oilers out of training camp. He is a very talented prospect that the team managed to bring in this offseason. He played just one game for the Buffalo Sabres last season and spent the rest of his time in the WHL absolutely lighting it up. He is going to wing up on one of the top two lines eventually with his skill and if he doesn't make the Oilers out of the gate, he should be the first callup.Raphael LavoieRaphael Lavoie is ready to break into the NHL, there just hasn't been the most room for him and injuries haven't come at good times. He can score and is big, perfect for the bottom-6 of the Oilers soon. He likely won't make the team out of training camp, but the 23-year-old did play seven games for Edmonton last season. He put up big numbers in the AHL and is at the age where he needs to be given a shot. If some of his 28 goals and 50 points in 66 games for Bakersfield can transfer over to the NHL, he and the Oilers will be in good shape.Olivier RodrigueThe Oilers bought out Jack Campbell and Calvin Pickard is backing up Stuart Skinner in the NHL. This leaves Olivier Rodrigue as the starter in the AHL and the next in line to get the callup to the NHL. There will likely come a point where he is given a game or two to show what he is capable of with the Oilers later in the season.
