NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs Open to Moving 2 Forwards
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has tried to make several trades this season but to this point, only one has been finalized. The Leafs couldn't find suitors for Wayne Simmonds or Nicolas Aube-Kubel after training camp and now, rumor has the attention swirling around two other forwards.Alexander Kerfoot and Pierre Engvall have been the subject of trade rumors of late as the two are off to horrible starts this season. Both have decent defensive numbers, however Kerfoot has only managed one goal and Engvall sits with three in his first 25 games. At a combined $5.75 million against the cap, it makes sense why Dubas would consider upgrading at their positions.Kerfoot has a better track record of being a secondary offensive weapon as he finished last season with 51 points, mostly all of which came at even strength. Toronto is getting desperate for secondary scoring and have tried a number of different players on their second line left-wing position, but to this point nobody has run with the job. Youngster Nick Robertson is currently playing alongside John Tavares and Mitch Marner, while Calle Jarnkrok nurses a sore groin. Robertson is expected to get another game or two with the pair, but if the production isn't there, will be demoted once again. Expect to see the Maple Leafs busy as we approach the trade deadline as they would ideally love to add an impact forward and a defensive defenseman with Stanley Cup Playoff experience. Don't be surprised if you see one of Kerfoot or Engvall moved out in the meantime.Photo credit: © Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports...
