Canadiens trade goalie Michael McNiven to Flames for future considerations

The 24-year-old from Winnipeg appeared in just one game for Montreal making his NHL debut on Jan. 25 in a relief appearance against the Minnesota Wild. McNiven posted a 4-4-1 record, goals-against average save percentage in 11 games this season with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. A standout netminder in junior with the Owen Sound Attack, McNiven captured the Ontario Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the year awards during the 2016-17 season.
