Predators' Trotz Has 'No Problem' Trading Any Player This Season
It is an interesting time for the Nashville Predators, and not in a good way. They have gone from contender to bottom of the league so quickly this season and haven't been able to pull themselves out of it despite the strong roster of players. It has gotten to the point where general manager Barry Trotz, who got the team into this mess, said that he has "no problem" moving any player doesn't want to be there. It is tough to say where the Predators are going to go from here, but they aren't going to make the playoffs this season. Maybe most of the top-end players stick it out and have something to prove next season, but at the same time, there might not be much of a choice for some as there are some big contracts that are too difficult to move mid-season.The Predators have already made a lot of changes, from trades to waivers to calling up and sending players down. Sometimes a season is just a wash if nothing is going their way. There are some very talented players on the team like Juuse Saros, Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, and Jonathan Marchessault has shown strong play this season, but the more impactful players are older.Luke Schenn's recent comments about the lack of scoring by the team might have struck up this topic, but I assume he isn't the only one to wonder what is going on this season. His role isn't to score, so that is a direct shot against his teammates whose job it is to score and possibly the coaches who are coaching a certain way.On paper, Saros was a top-5 goalie over the past three seasons and there are three 40-goal scorers from last season on the roster along with a Norris trophy winner. Some players are understandably upset at how the season has played out to this point and although there are a number of former Stanley Cup winners, that taste for victory doesn't go away and nobody likes losing. This is an easy way out of Nashville, so we'll see how this all transpires over the next week.Photo credit: © Daniel Bartel-Imagn Images...
