The New York Rangers saw two of their top players exit Tuesday night's exhibition game with injuries, and while the news is relatively good on one, it's problematic for the other. #NYR Artemi Panarin (lower body) is day to day. Ryan Lindgren (upper body) is out at least a few weeks.— Mollie Walker (@MollieeWalkerr) September 25, 2024While Artemi Panarin is considered day-to-day for now with a lower-body injury, the prognosis is much worse for top-four blueliner Ryan Lindgren, who will be out "at least a few weeks," according to the team. The D-man had come to his teammate Filip Chytil's aid after a knee-on-knee hit from NY Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield. An uppercut punch by Mayfield near the end of the scrap left Lindgren a little dazed and confused (as well as bloodied), and he is now out for some time with what the Rangers are calling "an upper-body injury."Scott Mayfield vs Ryan Lindgren after Mayfield’s hit on Chytil pic.twitter.com/CG281mY5ms— RGF (@rgfray1) September 24, 2024 "That's not good news," said head coach Peter Laviolette on Wednesday. "He's an important piece to our team, our core, our leadership group. The way he plays the game on the ice, he’s an important part. Those pieces are hard to replace."Chytil, it turns out, returned to the game later and seems to be fine.Lindgren signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal this past summer, but negotiations on a longer-term deal are expected to resume after January 1st. The 26-year-old would become an unrestricted free agent after the season without a new deal.Photo: © James Guillory-Imagn Images...
