NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Detroit Red Wings Trade Candidates

1 month ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

The Detroit Red Wings have been busy this offseason trying to re-tool their roster on the fly. General manager Steve Yzerman swung and missed on Steven Stamkos and had to settle on adding Vladimir Tarasenko and Cam Talbot instead. The Red Wings have made several big trades over the course of the last couple of seasons and that's likely going to be the case at some point next season, depending on where the Wings sit in the standings. Buyers, sellers, who knows at this point, but Yzerman does have a few players to keep on the trade market radar, including:Justin HollIt will take a sweetener in any Holl deal, but there's certainly growing speculation the team is open to a potential trade. Holl signed a three-year contract worth $3.4 million against the cap last summer and last season, only appeared in 38 games, recording five assists. He was a healthy scratch for long stretches of the regular season and if Yzerman wants to move on, he'll have to deal with the 10-team modified no-trade clause he provided Holl on his latest deal. Ville HussoWith Alex Lyon, Cam Talbot and Jack Campbell all under contract, Husso and his one remaining season left on his deal could be in play. Husso also holds a 10-team no-trade clause and given he's making $4.75 million against the cap in 2024-25, it's going to be, like Holl, a tough sell on the trade market for Yzerman. Husso appeared in 19 games for Detroit last season, going 9-5-2 with a 3.55 GAA and .892 save percentage.Jonatan BerggrenThe former 2018 second-round pick is currently a restricted free agent and without a contract for next season. Berggren has asked for a trade from Detroit in the past as he's apparently not happy with the playing time that's been provided to him since being selected to the organization. Berggren appeared in just 12 NHL games last season, recording six points, meanwhile posted 56 games in 53 AHL games, and another 10 points in nine Calder Cup Playoff games. Look for Berggren to be moved before the start of training camp as he prefers a change of scenery over re-signing in Motown.Photo credit: © Brian Bradshaw Sevald-USA TODAY Sports...
