The St. Louis Blues have signed Alexei Toropchenko to a one-year, two-way contract extension. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 in the minors.Alexei Toropchenko has signed a one-year, two-way contract extension. https://t.co/4y5x8nCApQ #stlblues— St. Louis Blues (@StLouisBlues) February 9, 2022 The Blues have been very active with contract extensions, as they also locked up Robert Bortuzzo and Logan Brown on Tuesday, too. Toropchenko has primarily played in the AHL this season, so this extension may not be as noteworthy as the other two. Yet, that doesn't mean he won't end up seeing more NHL time in the future.Toropchenko has played in five games with the Blues this season. In them, he failed to record a point. He has shown signs of improvement with the Springfield Thunderbirds this season, though. After having a nine-point campaign with the San Antonio Rampage during the 2019-20 season, he has seven goals and 12 points in 32 games with the Thunderbirds this season. He spent last season on a loan with Kunlun Red Star, where had seven goals and four assists in 45 games.Toropchenko is a 6-foot-6 forward who plays a physical game, so he could become a bottom-six forward for the Blues in the near future. We will have to wait and see what happens on that front, but for now, it is set in stone that the 22-year-old will be with the organization again next season.Photo Credit: © Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports...
