NHL Trade Rumors: Flyers' Joel Farabee Linked To Western Conference Team on the Rise

1 month ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

We've heard Joel Farabee's name on the rumor mill for a year now. Are the Philadelphia Flyers ready to move on from the 24-year-old? He's off to the worst start in his six-year career with the Flyers with just 3 goals and 7 points in 16 games while being reduced to his lowest ice time (14:21) since his rookie season. Hockey insider Anthony Di Marco, contributor at Daily Faceoff, has heard that the Minnesota Wild are high on Farabee and could be a potential trade destination. Yes, I've heard Minny rlly likes Farabee; I don't think they love the contract, though. I also believe they like Brink. https://t.co/OS8bhn9ca5— Anthony Di Marco (@ADiMarco25) November 14, 2024Di Marco says Minnesota "really likes Farabee", which we likely can't say about the Flyers at this point, given his reduced role this season. But he questions if they're perhaps not so crazy about Farabee's contract, which still has another three years after this one at a $5 million cap hit. With a pair of 20-goal seasons in the last four years, it could be argued that the $5M hit isn't so onerous. And the thing is, if Philly continues to hold him down to mostly third-line type duty, his value will drop, and maybe a team like the Wild can pounce. Farabee averaged over 17 minutes TOI for a couple of seasons, before dropping to 16:11 last year while registering his career highs in goals (22), assists (28) and points (50). The Wild are one of the most pleasant surprises of the young season at 10-2-3, and adding Farabee would only add to the team's upside. The Flyers are 7th in the Metropolitan Division at 7-8-2.Photo: © Eric Hartline-Imagn Images...
