But Greco stays, and one of Ilya Sorokin’s old coaches joins the ranks. Heading into the weekend, both conference finals were at 3-2, with the home teams for Game 6 in position to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup final.
The Oilers got out to a 3-0 lead in Dallas — including two Ryan Nugent-Hopkins power play goals — to beat the Stars 3-1, while the Panthers hosted the Rangers in Game 6.
Islanders News
With Mitch Korn leaving to rejoin Barry Trotz in Nashville, Chris Terreri is the Isles’ new director of goaltending. Pier Greco remains the goalie coach, while Ilya Sorokin’s former longtime KHL goalie coach Sergei Naumovs — a Latvian — is Bridgeport’s new goalie guru. [Newsday | Isles]

A mock draft suggesting the Isles take Emil Hemming at 20th overall [Athletic]:
Hemming doesn’t necessarily fit the player type the Islanders have drafted at forward but they took a polarizing Finn when they drafted Aatu Raty, he’s got the size they covet even if it’s not deployed in their style, and I think their pool could benefit from more talent/scoring punch up front. I’d probably consider all of him, Liam Greentree and Sacha Boisvert (Boisvert is the closest stylistic fit) in this scenario.
