The Islanders go to the Show-Me State, Scott Mayfield’s hometown. The New York Islanders wrap up their first road trip of the season with another iteration of the Dominik Bowl, as one of his favorite teams visits another, the St. Louis Blues. The Isles are 1-1-1 and coming off their first victory over a good but wounded and reeling Colorado Avalanche squad. For Scott Mayfield, he goes from his college town to his hometown.
Meanwhile, the Blues just lost their home opener to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday and, to add insult to injury, conceded a goalie goal to Filip Gustavsson. This feels like a winnable game, but St. Louis has stretches where they control the game. They’re only stretches though; sometimes, they get caved in. The Islanders have generally been better at controlling play under Patrick Roy, so perhaps that works in the Islanders’ favor.

Leddy has been struggling mightily to start the season. It's sad to see, but the Islanders probably moved on at the right time. I think most would agree that he’s not a top-pair defenseman at this stage, which is what St. Louis is asking him to be. [The Athletic]
