3 Players Entering Final Season With Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers currently have some work to do and the expectation is that Cody Ceci is going to be traded within the next week so the team can sign both Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. That being said, Ceci will not appear among the players entering their final season in Edmonton as he has likely already played his last game. Let's get into it.Jeff SkinnerWhen the Oilers signed Jeff Skinner to a one-year, $3 million AAV deal, it seemed like one of those contracts in which the player signs for less and builds himself up after a buyout. Skinner is still a good player and worth more than $3 million, but he also wanted to finally make the playoffs. If Holloway isn't matched and Evander Kane hits LTIR and is out of Edmonton soon, there would be more money and incentive to re-sign Skinner, but the Oilers also have to worry about signing key players like Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard by next offseason.Derek RyanDerek Ryan was really slowing down by the end of last season and I think he serves as a healthy scratch more often than not this season for the Oilers. He has one year left at $900,000 and will be 38 years old. There are some prospects at forward trying to break into the NHL and will take his spot by the end of next season. Ryan will probably go on to retire afterwards.Corey PerryThe Oilers brought Corey Perry back after yet another one of the teams he was on made it to the Stanley Cup Final and lost. He had an up-and-down season with the Oilers, but was effective at times and brings a grittiness not many others in the league bring. As with Ryan, Perry is at the end of his career and has slowed down. He is on a one-year deal and the Oilers will be making room for their younger players to have everyday playing time.Photo credit: © Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports...
