We did it, we published 100 editions of the Mile High Hockey Lab! Over the weekend, I was lucky to celebrate the 100th edition of the Mile High Hockey Lab with the usual panel of esteemed contributors and members of the MHH community! This show was extra special in many ways, as we hosted three separate giveaways, including a playoff ticket giveaway. If you, too, would like to win free playoff hockey tickets, don't forget to give us a follow on your preferred social media platform and subscribe to the show's YouTube page!
We started with Gabe Landeskog's return to the ice in Loveland, with Brennan Vogt and I among the media members in attendance. That led to a conversation about closing the regular season and a quick playoff preview of the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Dallas Stars. Finally, our panel opened their 100th episode gift boxes (with a twist) and finished with our beloved # bold predictions.
Landy & Loveland
You'd have to live under a Pikes Peak-sized rock not to have heard about Gabe Landeskog's return to the ice last Friday at Blue Arena in Loveland, CO. Mile High Hockey acted as Johnny on the spot and sent me out to get a real insider's look at Landy's return. We were there for the post-game presser and responded to a few of Landeskog's answers.

Most notably, Brennan and Jackie keyed on Landeskog's compliments and honoring of his support group throughout his rehab journey. Brennan shared Landeskog, mentioning, "I wanted to show the human side," when asked about the drive behind his A Clean Sheet documentary. Jackie asked why right now, asking, 'is it just that it's playoffs and there are no cap implications..." as it pertains to Landeskog's decision to give it a go. But also hypothesized that he may have decided to stop rehabbing and see what he can do.
Hear Jackie Kay (@Tigervixxxen) talk about Gabe's return to the ice and ask an essential question: "Why now?"#GoAvsGo | @MileHighHockey pic.twitter.com/zvtDUQkXTR— Mile High Hockey Lab (@MHH_LAB) April 16, 2025
That is an excellent question, as the answer would give us a clear picture of how he truly views his health and ability. If the hypothetical answer was, "Well, I felt like this was as good as I'd feel again and that I could give it one last go," that paints a picture of a guy who isn't necessarily 100 percent. Conversely and hypothetically, if the answer were, "Because I have no limitations and am eager to contribute to a Stanley Cup run," then let's bleeping ride!
We finished the conversation by stating our excitement for Landeskog's return and spinning the wheel of winners for the first time. Username: Jack Bing will go to game four of the first round courtesy of the Mile High Hockey Lab!
Snoozer Season
We quickly and briefly touched on the games toward the end of the regular season, and I pointed out that it genuinely felt like the Avs packed it up for the postseason this year. I can't say I blame them, and of course, they got a comeback win later in the day, but it was no secret their playoff fate had been essentially ensured for about two and a half weeks.
We all agreed that human nature was in play, but Jackie did ask about the level of concern over Mackenzie Blackwood's play. Ezra was eager to answer, stating, "This has been my one thing... Blackwood not playing dialed in entering the playoffs is concerning." He predicted that the Avalanche would win the series in six but that game one would be "very terrifying." We ended the segment by giving away a 100th episode mini-stick with our wheel of winners!

Pregame to the preview
We will be doing our full playoff preview on LAB #101 this Friday, but we did touch briefly on Avs vs. Dallas on our 100th edition. I wanted to gauge our panel's confidence heading into round one, and Jackie surprised us with her prediction, and so did Evan, for that matter. Jackie was slightly more optimistic than I expected, stating she's at about a 7/10 in thinking the Avalanche could win this series. I thought she'd come in around the 5/10 that Evan Liu gave, who stated, "it's just so 50/50... I don't like it."
We ended the segment with our goodie box giveaway before dishing out this week's bold predictions. Brennan predicts that the Colorado Eagles will clinch the Pacific Division with a win in Ontario!
Be sure to comment with your bold prediction heading into round one. Thank you for tuning into LAB #100 and celebrating with us!
