The Toronto Maple Leafs have made an addition to their training camp roster, as they have signed forward Steven Lorentz to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement. As just mentioned with @TheRog590, sounds like Stanley Cup champion Steven Lorentz is joining Toronto on a PTO— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) September 3, 2024 Lorentz, 28, spent this past season with the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers. In 38 regular season games for the Panthers on the year, he had one goal, three points, 70 hits, and a minus-9 rating. He also played in 16 playoff games for the Panthers, where he had two goals, one assist, and a minus-1 rating. With this PTO addition, the Maple Leafs have brought in another potential option for their forward depth. Due to his ability to play both down the middle and on the wing, Lorentz could be a decent fourth-line forward or 13th forward for the Maple Leafs if he successfully earns a contract from this PTO. In 230 career NHL games split between the Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, and Panthers, Lorentz has 21 goals, 22 assists, 43 points, and 317 hits. His best offensive season came during the 2022-23 campaign when he had 10 goals, nine assists, and 19 points with the Sharks. We will now need to wait and see if Lorentz can impress during training camp and earn himself a contract with the Maple Leafs from here.photo credit: © sam navarro-usa today sports...
