The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed Cayden Primeau to a three-year, $2.67 million ($890,000 AAV) contract. Now, he has locked up Primeau on this multi-year pact as an encore. What is most interesting about this contract, however, is that it is a one-way deal. As a result, it appears that the Canadiens are ready to roll with Primeau as their full-time backup goaltender at a minimum. Primeau is viewed as having a lot of potential, but he hasn't been able to cement himself as a full-time NHL goalie. In 12 games this past season with the Canadiens, he had a 1-7-1 record, 4.62 GAA, and .868 SV%. Yes, he struggled mightily, but the new year offers a clean slate.
