Colorado Eagles

The Eagles had control of the game from the moment the puck dropped. Loveland, CO — The Colorado Eagles came home for a two-game battle against the Henderson Silver Knights (VGK). Colorado entered tonight on a four-game point streak after winning or pushing the last four games to overtime. Jacob MacDonald has been a standout player for the Eagles. MacDonald currently leads the AHL in goals among defensemen. Chase Bradley made his NHL debut two nights ago with the Colorado Avalanche and remained with the team as they take on the Dallas Stars. The Eagles have been on a streak with their penalty kill lately, killing the last six chances by opponents. Maros Jedlicka, the Avalanche’s seventh round pick from 2023, made his North American debut for the Eagles on Friday as well.

Takeaways
Maros Jedlicka, despite not recording a shot on goal, played a decent game for his first in North America. His size played a factor with his six foot three-inch frame. As Jedlicka carries the puck into the zone, he lowers his shoulder and absorbs any hits from his opponents. For his size, he is surprisingly a talented skater. After Jedlicka lost the puck on one shift, he never gave up on getting it back. His never say die attitude is something that I definitely like in such a young kid.
“I thought he showed some good flashes of what he’s capable of,” head coach Aaron Schneekloth said of Jedlicka. “A nice play on the two-on-one. Got in on the forecheck. Well, limited time practicing with us after travel and immigration and everything. So it’s going to take a bit of time to get them up and running and get them used to the North American game, the amount of pressure, the time and space that he has out there. So it will be a learning curve here for him, but he is a big guy that skates well, and I think has some good puck skills, so he should be effective once he gets comfortable.”
Jayson Megna added two goals and an assist tonight to his season tallies. He is second on the team in points and as the captain has led by example. Megna has been effective on the power play, but opened the scoring tonight in just under two minutes.

Tye Felhaber has become a pleasant surprise this season. He was a late addition to the team in August from free agency. He is a forward that has previously won the accuracy shooting contest in the ECHL in 6.5 seconds. His eleven points this season have come at points in the game to provide a spark when the team needed it. Felhaber assisted on the opening Megna goal and then turned around and scored one two minutes later.

The team played well tonight. There were moments in the first that they slipped since they could not get the puck out of the zone. But the Eagles corrected the mistakes during the first intermission and came back out to a better team to win it 5–2.
Upcoming
The Eagles will be back for a matinee game against the Henderson Silver Knights at Blue Arena in Loveland at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
