Yet Another 4 Teams That Would Be Trade Fits For Maple Leafs' Timothy Liljegren
Beleaguered Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren will be making his season debut on Wednesday night after three healthy scratches to start the year. He's firmly planted on the trade block, and suggested destinations have been flowing in for the right-shot D-man. We presented four of the trade fits on Tuesday, now we're going through another four potential landing spots that make sense for Liljegren, courtesy of Josh Wegman of The Score.Dallas StarsFlorida PanthersLos Angeles KingsPittsburgh PenguinsThe Stars lost a right-shot blueliner to the Leafs in free agency when Chris Tanev signed in his hometown, so why not bring back a Toronto D-man in a trade? More importantly, the No. 6 spot on the blueline in Dallas could be improved, as Liljegren could usurp Nils Lundkvist, per Wegman. The Panthers have some right-side needs on their backline, particularly after losing Brandon Montour in free agency. No, Liljegren is not of the caliber of Montour, but he would help. The Kings are without Drew Doughty for a huge chunk of the season with his devastating preseason injury, and Liljegren would be an improvement over the Kings' current right-side D-corps of Jordan Spence, Brandt Clarke, and Kyle Burroughs, notes Wegman.A trade with the Penguins would reunite Liljegren with his former GM Kyle Dubas, and Wegman says this move is probably "the most obvious landing spot" for Liljegren. He rightfully points out that he'd certainly be an improvement over Jack St. Ivany on the Pittsburgh backline. Photo: © John E. Sokolowski-Imagn Images...
