Evgeni Malkin made it clear that he has no plans to retire or play anywhere other than Pittsburgh. In an interview with The Athletic’s Rob Rossi, Malkin dismissed speculation that he might finish his career in Russia, stating, “I retire with Pittsburgh. With 34 points in 47 games and an average of over 18 minutes of ice time per game, he continues to be effective offensively. His return comes at a critical time, as the Penguins sit six points out of a playoff spot and will need all their top players to make a late push. His longtime teammate Sidney Crosby has also committed to finishing his career in Pittsburgh, and the team's owners, Fenway Sports Group, want to keep both players with the franchise for life.Evgeni Malkin won’t retire after this season, will play only for Penguins: ‘This is my only team’ ⁦@penguins⁩ | ⁦@TheAthleticNHL⁩ https://t.co/1hB12HIOy7— Rob Rossi (@Real_RobRossi) February 19, 2025 Malkin’s contract runs through the 2025-26 season, and he has not decided if it will be his last. However, if he signs another deal, it will be with the Penguins. The team hasn’t won a playoff series since 2018, and he hopes to change that before he retires. “It’s my dream for [my son] to see us in playoffs—make good memories for him,” Malkin said.Photo Credit: Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images...
