NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Brian Boyle
At the time of this writing, Brian Boyle is still a free agent. In a fourth-line role last season, the 6-foot-6 center put together a solid 21-point campaign in 66 games, but he still does not have a home for 2022-23. At a minimum, he is worthy of a PTO, but I think he could even land a league-minimum deal before the regular season begins. Let's look at three teams who should take a flyer on him.New York Rangers: A reunion between Boyle and the Rangers could make sense. They still have some cap space to work with and could ink to a league-minimum deal. With that, he is a potential upgrade over Ryan Carpenter as the club's fourth-line center but also would be a contender like them to have around.Ottawa Senators: The Senators could use an upgrade from Dylan Gambrell at fourth-line center, and there's no question that Boyle would give them that. After their summer of spending, Ottawa is hoping to be a playoff team, so why not add an experienced veteran like Boyle to training camp? Chicago Blackhawks: Although the Blackhawks are rebuilding, Boyle could be a good veteran for them to add. He would fit in their bottom-six, but more importantly, provide their younger players with another leader in the locker room. GM Kyle Davidson also hasn't been afraid to sign veterans this offseason, either (Jack Johnson), so let's see if there could be a match here with Boyle.
