Toronto Maple Leafs Provide Update On Jake Muzzin

2 years ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters that Jake Muzzin will be out until at least after the All-Star break. Muzzin has been out since mid-January due to a concussion. With this kind of injury, it makes sense that the Maple Leafs are taking their time with the veteran defenseman. Head injuries need to be taken seriously, of course. At this time, the Leafs have a 27-10-3 record and are third in the Atlantic Division. Thus, they will be fine with the defenseman having to miss more time.In 35 games this season, Muzzin has one goal, 10 assists, and a minus-2 rating. In terms of offensive production, it's been a bit of a down year for him. However, even with this being the case, Toronto would obviously rather have him in the lineup than not. He's a dependable top-four defenseman when playing at his best.Muzzin was practicing over the last handful of days, so it seemed possible that he would be able to play in Toronto's back-to-back games against the New Jersey Devils. However, we now have confirmation that this isn't the case. Here's to hoping the 32-year-old will be good to go once the break is completed. Photo Credit: © Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports...
