Edmonton/Montreal Trade Is Official

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defeceman Brett Kulak from the Montreal Canadiens, in exchange for defenceman William Lagesson and a conditional second round pick in 2022 and a seventh round pick in 2024. The Canadiens retain 50% of Kulak’s salary for the remainder of the season.
 
If Edmonton transfers its second round pick in 2022 to Chicago per the previously completed trade with the Blackhawks on July 7, 2021, Montreal will receive Edmonton’s own second round pick in 2023.
 
Kulak, 28, has appeared in 56 games with Montreal this season, posting 13 points (3G, 10A), 33 penalty minutes and a -10 plus/minus rating.
 
The 6’1”, 197-pound defenceman has played in 316 career NHL games with Calgary and Montreal, recording 56 points (13G, 43A), 137 penalty minutes and a -4 plus/minus rating....
