3 Potential Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs' David Kampf
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the market for some more centre depth ahead of the NHL trade deadline, so it will be interesting to see how GM Brad Treliving navigates his roster with some inconsistent performers this season. Insert, David Kampf. The veteran defensive-minded centre has been situated on the team's fourth line for most of the season, and if the Leafs want to give their bottom-six a new identity, Kampf could be on the way out. Here's three teams to consider if the Maple Leafs trade the 30-year-old centre.Philadelphia FlyersToronto has engaged with the Flyers on Scott Laughton and if trade talks progress, it could lead to even more. Kampf could be included to balance the finances, as he's a cap causality candidate with his $2.4 million AAV for two more seasons. The Flyers are going to want a first-round pick or top prospect for Laughton, but considering the Leafs cap situation, moving Kampf will be a must if they want to add down the middle.St. Louis BluesThe Blues and Leafs could pull off a Brayden Schenn stunner before March 7, and if so, Kampf could be on his way to St. Louis. He's a tough asset to move in a straight up trade, as he doesn't hold much trade value on his own, with just seven points in 42 games, but if he's packaged with Fraser Minten, or Topi Niemela, or even a 2026 top draft pick, the likelihood goes way up. Certainly going to be interesting to see how St. Louis handles Schenn before the deadline, if the Leafs are involved, Kampf could be part of a four-piece package.Seattle KrakenThe Kraken have Brandon Tanev, Yanni Gourde and Jared McCann who fit what the Leafs are looking for before the deadline, so there's certainly a good chance these two clubs make a deal together before the deadline. Again, Kampf's going to be a trade filler for Brad Treliving, as money is tight in Toronto, but the only way Kraken GM Ron Francis considers adding the bottom-six centre, is if there's a sweetener in a pick or prospect.
