Canucks Rumors: UFA Brock Boeser Opens Up About His Future In Vancouver
The buzz has been growing about pending UFA Brock Boeser and his future (or potential lack thereof) with the Vancouver Canucks. Now we can hear it from the horse's mouth, as told to Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet. Boeser does not believe he'll be back in B.C.:Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It sucks, it's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey, and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. Now it sounds like he'll ride that roller coaster straight out of town. Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal isn't the least bit surprised, considering how the team's management has treated Boeser this season, despite his publicly expressed desire to stay in Vancouver. Dhaliwal refers specifically to the trade acquisitions—and immediate extensions handed to—Marcus Petterson and Drew O'Connor. "Hey let's bring in two guys from Pittsburgh, sign them to extensions, and keep forgetting about the guy that scored 47 goals last year.."@DonTaylor5 and @DhaliwalSports react to Brock Boeser's comments to @imacSportsnet https://t.co/h4e2SKM7eJ pic.twitter.com/qCKCpIIxCN— Donnie & Dhali (@DonnieandDhali) April 10, 2025"Hey let's bring in two guys from Pittsburgh, sign them to extensions, and keep forgetting about the guy that scored 47 goals last year! (including playoffs)" said Dhaliwal."The general manager (Patrik Allvin) then rips him at the deadline (telling the media that the offers he got for Boeser were embarrassingly low). If you don't think that quote bothered him and his camp, you're out to lunch."In addition to all that, Allvin and president of hockey ops Jim Rutherford had stated all year that they wanted to "evaluate" Boeser for the season before getting to any extension."I don't blame him (for indicating that he's gone)," added Dhaliwal. "I don't think he's been treated fairly this year at all."The 27-year-old's numbers have definitely taken a dip, at 25 goals and 49 points in 71 games, compared to the 40-goal, 73-point season last year, but it's still his sixth 20+ goal season in eight full years in Vancouver, and his 82-game average over that time is 30 goals and 65 points.
