The Detroit Red Wings have made a notable move, as they have placed goaltender Ville Husso on waivers.Ville Husso is on waivers today— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 13, 2024 Husso, 29, played in the Red Wings' season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was a brutal night for the 2014 fourth-round pick, as he allowed four goals on just 14 shots before being pulled by the Red Wings. Now, just a few days later, he is on waivers. Husso is currently in the final season of his contract, where he carries a $4.75 million cap hit. Given his struggles both this season and in recent years, it seems more likely than not that he will end up clearing waivers, rather than being claimed. Husso has appeared in 76 games with the Red Wings over the last three seasons, where he had a 35-28-9 record, a .894 save percentage (SV%), and a 3.25 goals-against average (GAA). With Husso being placed on waivers, the Red Wings will now roll with Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon as their NHL goaltenders. Husso is not the only player who has been placed on waivers, though, as the Montreal Canadiens have done the same thing with forward Alex Barre-Boulet. The 27-year-old forward has played in two games this season with the Habs, where he has zero assists and a minus-2 rating.Alex Barre-Boulet (MON) too, as the team announced— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 13, 2024 photo credit: © Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images...
