Latest Update on Moritz Seider Talks With Red Wings
Several sources have indicated that both Moritz Seider and fellow key Detroit Red Wings RFA Lucas Raymond are training together over in Germany with camp less than two weeks away. And while that may not sound like a very positive development in extension talks for the two, insider David Pagnotta already told us on Thursday that things are "picking up" on the Raymond front, and now he says Seider talks are progressing as well. But the wheels are in motion.Several sources have indicated to The Fourth Period that the two sides are hammering away at a long-term deal with the young top-pairing defenseman. A recent comp that is likely one of the key factors in the negotiations is the eight-year, $8.5 million AAV extension signed by Brock Faber with the Minnesota Wild. "It's hard to argue that Mo is not worth in that ballpark, if not more," a league source told TFP. "Look at the market value and go from there."Seider, the Calder Trophy winner as Rookie of the Year in 2021, has been a rock on the Red Wings blueline in his three years since being selected with the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. The 23-year-old has logged just under 23 minutes of ice time per night and played all 82 games in each of his three seasons. He's also totaled a minimum of 42 points in each year. Seider blocked a career-high 213 shots last season, and laid out 211 hits, also a personal best. Photo: © Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images...
