NHL Rumors: 3 San Jose Sharks Contract Extension Candidates
The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.In this latest edition of the series, let's focus on the San Jose Sharks. Thomas Bordeleau Bordeleau is a forward the Sharks will surely look to keep around beyond this season. The 23-year-old has shown some promise while with San Jose this season, posting six goals and 11 points in 27 games. The 2020 second-round pick is viewed as having good upside, so he is a pending restricted free agent the Sharks should keep.Shakir MukhamadullinMukhamadullin is another pending restricted free agent who the Sharks will likely want to keep in San Jose. The 23-year-old is a young blueliner just getting his NHL career, and the expectation is that he could become a key part of San Jose's defense. In 30 games this season, the 2020 first-round pick has two goals, nine points, 25 hits, and 51 blocks.Jack ThompsonThompson is another young blueliner the Sharks should work hard to re-sign. The pending RFA has appeared in 30 games with the Sharks this season, where he has four goals and 10 points.
