The Winnipeg Jets have received some bad news on top-line forward Gabe Vilardi, as he is out "week to week" with an upper-body injury. Head coach Scott Arniel calls it a "freak" injury. #NHLJets Scott Arniel advised that Gabriel Vilardi will be out week-to-week (playoff readiness undetermined) due to an upper body injury suffered Sunday vs Buffalo. Arniel said the “freak” injury did not result from the puck to the head which Vilardi absorbed.— John Lu (@JohnLuTSNWpg) March 24, 2025Vilardi actually took a puck to the side of the head in the same game on Sunday vs. the Buffalo Sabres, but apparently that is not the issue that will keep him out for an indefinite period. According to TSN reporter John Lu, Vilardi's playoff "readiness" is still in question. The Jets have 11 games left in the regular season and the Stanley Cup playoffs are set to begin in less than four weeks. The Jets own the best record in the Western Conference, with 100 points on a 48-19-4 record, and have an eight-point lead on the second-place Dallas Stars in the Central Division.  Vilardi has been a big contributor to Winnipeg's excellent regular season, placing third on the team with 27 goals and 61 points, in 71 games. He's been playing a career-high 18:08 of ice time per game, and he will be missed as well on the top power play unit. He certainly leaves a big void in the Jets' lineup. Photo: © Dan Hamilton-Imagn Images ...
