Vancouver Canucks Defenseman To Miss Significant Time
It's been a tough first season in B.C. for Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy. For the third time in the 2023-24 campaign, Soucy is out of the lineup due to injury. Rick Tocchet says Carson Soucy will miss 5-6 weeks. #Canucks @Sportsnet650— Brendan Batchelor (@BatchHockey) January 22, 2024 Head coach Rick Tocchet says Soucy will miss 5-to-6 weeks. Beat writer Rick Dhaliwal called it a possible hand injury. It apparently happened on Saturday night, as Soucy didn't see the ice in the 3rd period of the team's victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Soucy missed the first two games of the year back in October after an injury during the preseason, then after just 13 games played, went down again in November after blocking a shot with the back of his leg. That injury cost him nearly two months, as he returned in early January. Now, just two weeks later, he'll hit injured reserve once again. In 21 total games for the Canucks this season, Soucy has been a solid contributor to the defense corps, posting six points and a plus/minus of +6 in over 17 minutes of action per night. The 6'5" D-man signed a three-year deal with Vancouver in the offseason, with a $3.25 million cap hit. The 29-year-old, now in his 6th NHL season, has recorded 23 goals and 51 assists for 74 points in 271 career games, with an impressive plus/minus of +67.Soucy's injury will likely allow Noah Juulsen to enter back into the lineup. The former first-rounder has been a healthy scratch for the past five games. Photo: Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports ...
