Edmonton Oilers Rumors: Team Linked To Flyers Star Forward

The Edmonton Oilers finished short of their goal this season, and will be doing everything in their power to get Connor McDavid the extra help he needs to get this team to the promised land next season. And with many eyes around the league now on the rebuilding Philadelphia Flyers, who are already in trade mode, the Oilers seem to have their sights set on one of Philly's prized assets, according to Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal. The Philadelphia Flyers are open for business this off-season. And a contact of mine with connections to the player reports that the Oilers are one of the teams that has reached out to ask about Travis Konecny. There is lots to like about the speedy, versatile, competitive forward with lots of finish.Konecny won't come cheaply, of course, coming off his first 30-goal, and point-per-game season (61 points in 60 games). The 26-year-old, still young in his own right, might not be Flyers' GM Danny Briere's first choice to trade. He's still under team control for two more seasons at a $5.5M AAV that isn't exactly breaking the bank. But with the troubles some Canadian teams like Edmonton have of getting a young star player to sign a long-term extension, Konecny might be an exception, as he hails from London, Ontario. Konecny aside, Oilers GM Ken Holland will be busy making a lot of inquiries in the weeks to come. Photo: Walter Tychnowicz-USA TODAY Sports...
