Canucks Get Rough Thatcher Demko Injury News
According to The Athletic's Thomas Drance, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko will not travel with the team for their five-game road trip due to a lower-body injury. In addition, Drance reported that Demko is currently labeled as week-to-week.Thatcher Demko (lower body) won’t be making the upcoming road trip with the team, will be reevaluated when the #Canucks return from Seattle next weekend. Officially “week-to-week”, per team spokesperson.— Thomas Drance (@ThomasDrance) February 18, 2025 Demko was injured during the Canucks' last game before the 4 Nations Face-Off break on Feb. 8 against the Toronto Maple Leafs that forced him to exit early.This update is brutal news for Demko, especially when noting that he already missed all of October and November due to injury trouble. He did not make his season debut until Dec. 10, when the Canucks faced off against the St. Louis Blues. In 17 games this season with the Canucks, Demko has a 6-6-3 record, a 2.87 goals-against average, and a .891 save percentage. Before getting injured against the Maple Leafs, he had been getting red-hot, too. On Feb. 4 against the Colorado Avalanche, he put together a 25-save shutout. Then, on Feb. 6, he stopped 33 out of 34 shots against the San Jose Sharks.This is rough news for the Canucks and Demko.
