Rangers run through like a train as Flyers look lost in the Big Apple

Not even Thomas the Tank Engine would be able to stomach this one from the Flyers’ point of view. Rather soft slashing call on Philippe Myers less than two minutes in gave the Rangers the first power play of the night. Chris Kreider drew the call and then had a nice chance but was turned away awkwardly by Brian Elliott as the Flyers killed off the remainder.
On the heels of the Flyers generating their first shot on goal after about five minutes, the Rangers would generate the first goal of the evening with Brendan Lemieux of all people hammering one home a little over seven minutes in to make it 1-0. Adam Fox put it on a tee for Lemieux with a pretty cross-crease dish.
With 9:25 left in the first and his team closely resembling a deflated balloon animal, Myers figured it’d be a good time to give the Rangers another power play. The Flyers killed it off, too, but still — stop taking penalties there Phil.
After torturing the Flyers all night on Monday, Artemi Panarin was back at it with a one-timer past Elliott to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead with 5:13 left in the period.
After 20: Rangers 2, Flyers 0
The second 20 wouldn’t get off to a great start as Pavel Buchnevich found himself — get this, all alone — on the left circle and fired a wrist shot past Elliott to make it 3-0.
Well, the Rangers scored again — this time it’s Buchnevich again, this one off the skate of Myers to make it 4-0.
Not sure Mattias Ekholm is fixing any of what’s wrong with that Flyers defense, folks.
Finally to a power play — don’t worry they didn’t score on it — but Alexandar Georgiev, owner of an .887 save percentage, robbed Nolan Patrick because the former No. 2 overall pick couldn’t lift the return feed more than an inch off the ice into the other 10-feet of open net.
Then Jacob Trouba scored at the other end to make it 5-0 Rangers, because why the hell not?
Then Mika Zibanejad added a shorthanded tally to push it to 6-0 to welcome Carter Hart to the game.
He scored again with 5:31 left in the second period to make the Rangers’ lead 7-0, yes with more than 25 minutes still left.
A natural hat trick for Zibanejad as he finished it off to make it 8-0 with 1:23 still left in the second period.
Another Rangers goal? Sure, why not — 9-0 Rangers.
After 40: Rangers 9 (!!!!!!!!!), Flyers 0
